E Cigarettes

Hi,

We have recently seen an increase in E cigarette use within the museum by guests. We have a no smoking facillity and have prohibitted e cigarette use for a variety of reasons, but have not committed that to writing.

Does anyone have a policy that covers e cigarette use by employees and guests?

Hi Mike,
I recommend that you treat e-cigs just like real cigs, and amend your tobacco policy to include e-cigs. Reason (from the National Business Group on Health ): Nicotine is addictive in any form. E-cigarettes look similar to regular cigarettes, making it harder for employers to monitor cigarette use. And the vapor could be an annoyance to nonsmoking employees.
