DallasHR JobLink Meeting - Tuesday, October 2, 2012

Topic: Negotiate Your Offer

You have just received the call that offers you a position.  Wow! Congratulations!  But wait…. How do you determine whether to accept it, and is this the best deal you can get?  What are your next steps?

Negotiating your own salary can be very uncomfortable, and it may be natural to avoid.  What are your fears, and how do you overcome them? Accepting an offer at a salary less than you believe you are worth, or finding out later that they would have been willing to improve on the original offer can leave you feeling less than engaged.

Wage inequality can be influenced by the individual’s reluctance to engage in salary discussions.  Negotiations are not always about pay.  What else might be negotiable?
