Personal Branding – What is it, and why does it matter to HR professionals in a job search?
It’s been around for over a decade, and people are still talking about it. So Personal Branding is not a fad that will go away, although it could get reinvented under another name.
Quite simply it is what people think of when they think of you …. Your distinct set of talents and what you represent. Sometimes this is aligned with what you want them to think, and sometimes there is a disconnect. So how can this impact your job search, and what can you do to better market yourself?
First impressions count – when networking, interviewing, on your resume, in your blog, on LinkedIn. In HR we tend to be labeled according to the other person’s past experience with HR. So how do you change the perception? How are you representing yourself? What stories are you telling about your accomplishments, and do they support the image you want to be known for?
Bring your stories and questions to the meeting, share and receive feedback, so that you can adjust as appropriate.
This discussion will be led by Fiona Hunter.
