As President of DallasHR this year, I am so proud to be surrounded by so many strong and reliable members that have accomplished amazing results this year and we have three more months ahead of us. The Board of Trustees have put many hours in to help shape our Vision and Mission and with much pride, I am happy to announce the approved strategic plan for 2015 which communicates our Vision (what we want to become), Mission (why we exist), and our Values (our guiding principles). Our VALUES have now been documented and posted on our website DallasHR will begin to communicate these through our various avenues.
Our Executive Director recently shared this communication with our wonderful staff to help us drive home the commitment throughout the organization to live these VALUES as well. However, the real work starts with each of us as a volunteer leader. Let’s start by investing time to review these VALUES as we begin our day and/or before each meeting with our teams. It’s critical that we communicate these values and discuss with our committee members, and throughout our organization.
Here are a few ways to support this effort:
- Take the guiding principles statement to your next committee and strategy meetings and make time on the agenda to discuss.
- Use our VALUES as part of the decision making for you and your committees. The right decision will fit our mission statement and reflect our values.
By establishing these as part of the foundation of our leadership teams, our commitment to be "the resource" will be demonstrated in all we do. Our leadership commitment and follow-up are key to having a significant impact on our organization. We are excited about these statements and confident in their power to help us accomplish goals and to help us lead and influence others.
DallasHR and The HRSouthwest Conference are committed to be the premier resource for advancing and connecting the regional HR Community.
The Values that guide efforts to achieve this vision are:
- Service – We exist to serve our members/attendees and our community
- Collaboration – Volunteers, members, and staff work together to meaningfully impact the HR profession, the HR professional, and our community
- Integrity – We create a culture of honesty, accountability, and ethical behavior to build a community of trust
- Excellence – In all our offerings, we will continuously improve to increase our value and impact in our community
- Compassion – We work to improve the lives of our members, volunteers, partners, and staff by being attentive to their challenges
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to achieving excellence.
